Hello, and welcome to my page. Allow me to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Brandie and I am Certified as a Placenta Encapsulation Arts Specialist, as well as Birth, Postpartum and a Loss & Bereavement Doula. I went on to continue my education to become a Certified Lactation Educator, a Young Parent Support Specialist and supporting families with childhood Developmental Disabilities. I was born and raised right here in Tampa, Florida and cannot imagine living anywhere else. I have 3 adult children and 3 of the most amazing grandchildren that I absolutely live for. (That's my eldest in the photo next to me). They keep my body feeling old, but my mind and heart feeling young :)
My longing to help others has given me amazing opportunities that include organizing fundraisers for children through the Thunder Strikers; an organization that was built on the fan base of the Tampa Bay Lightning, participating in the Salvation Army's annual Angel Tree and Silver Bells program. I am a Hospice volunteer in Pinellas county and am a frequent donor for whole blood, plasma and platelets. My theory is "Donate today as the life you save one day might be your own".
My desire to become a certified Doula began at the end of my only daughters’ pregnancy. It was planned that I would attend the birth just as I had with my other 2 grandchildren, and I would be by her side coaching her the entire way. Well, COVID-19 changed all that and, in a flash, I was no longer allowed unless I was a "Certified Doula". You see, here in Florida, Doulas are not required to be “Certified”, but when you are in the middle of a pandemic, protocols change, and as we all now know....so did our lives. The wheels in my head started spinning and the more I thought about it, the more I felt the call. I absolutely love everything and anything about pregnancy, births, babies, and all that's in between. So, I went for it.
As I started my classes to become certified, I came across Placentophagy. I decided to take a course, and the deeper I got into it, the more I started to feel a passion for it. I heard that it was all the rage in Hollywood over the years and will admit, I thought these women were crazy. Who wants to consume their own placenta? I can admit now, I would! But my baby making years are a very distant memory. So, that brings me to where I am today….Obsessed with Placenta! The 1st one I held; I felt such a connection with life. I inspected it, marveled at the amniotic sack still intact, and pictured the baby attached to the umbilical cord, receiving life through it while in its mama’s belly. I continued with the encapsulation process, made sure every little detail was perfect and sent it off for the Mother to enjoy.
If you have made it this far, I want you to know that it is my personal goal to Empower, Enhance and Embrace the birth and postpartum journey of every birther and partner out there by continuing my education as a Full-Spectrum Doula and offering you only the very best care.
